Nijat Valiyev is a Senior Infrastructure Specialist in the Transport Global Practice of the World Bank. Based in Azerbaijan Country Office, he has an extensive operational experience in transport sector across Eastern Europe and post-soviet countries. The areas of his expertise include road infrastructure and asset management, road safety, urban transport, freight logistics. Nijat also has a broad cross-sectoral experience in social development, energy, and urban areas.
Before joining the World Bank, Nijat Valiyev was in charge of investment projects and the front office operations in the Sovereign Fund of Azerbaijan. He holds Master’s degree in International Development Policy from Duke University and PhD in Economics from Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences.
