Nkahiga Mathus Kaboko

Senior Education Specialist, World Bank

Nkahiga Mathus Kaboko is a Tanzania national with vast experiences in education and skills development management over his over 30 years working in the education sector. He holds two post graduate degree programs: master’s degrees in educational planning and economics (London University, 1996) and business administration (Corporate Governance and Management – Mzumbe University TZ, 2005). He also holds a BSc in Building Economics from Ardhi University and a diploma in Education (Specializing in Physics and Chemistry) from Mkwawa Teachers College (1989). Nkahiga’s education and skills experiences spans a professional career as an instructor in vocational training colleges teaching engineering science, laboratory technology, curriculum development and assessment. After his bachelor’s degree he joined the department of planning in the same organization. He later took a managerial role including coordination of vocational colleges development including registration, accreditation and assessment. From 2005, he was appointed as a Vocational College Principal where his main focus was on management of skills development functions including development and execution of Competence Based Curriculum. From June 2008, Nkahiga joined the Tanzania Education Authority as Director of Funds Allocation, where he was responsible for assessment of financing needs across all education subsectors and allocation of grants and loans to public and private institutions.

Nkahiga joined the World Bank in Tanzania in 2010 and is currently a Senior Education Specialist. Withing the World Bank, he has supported various education interventions including: Secondary Education Program II (SEDP II), Zanzibar Basic Education Improvement Project (ZABEIP), Science, Technology and Higher Education (STHEP), Education and Skills for Better Job (ESPJ), Zanzibar Improving Student Prospect (ZISP), Zanzibar Improvement of Quality of Basic Education (ZIQUE), African Center of Excellence II (ACEII)  East Africa Skills Transformation and Regional Integration (EASTRIP) and Higher Education for Economic Transformation (HEET). He also has been supporting various analytical work in education which has been vital for investment prioritization with the World Bank in Tanzania.
