Norbert Fiess is a Lead Economist in the Macro, Trade, and Investment Global Practice of the World Bank. He leads the Macro-Financial Risk Initiative in the Practice and supports regional work in Africa. In previous World Bank assignments, he was Principal Economist and Credit Risk Head in the Credit Risk Department and Senior Country Economist for Latin America. He has also worked in academia and investment banking. Norbert is an honorary research fellow of the University of Glasgow. His work has been published in the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking; the Journal of International Money and Finance; and the Journal of Development Economics. Norbert holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Strathclyde, Scotland.
