Mr. Nuwan Suriyagoda is the Senior Climate Change Portfolio Coordinator at PPIAF and is currently based in Washington DC. He has over 8 years of experience in climate change with a specialized focus on climate-smart infrastructure development through public-private partnerships (PPPs) across emerging markets. In his current role, Nuwan manages PPIAF’s Climate Change Trust Fund and leads efforts to assist governments to develop climate-smart policy, regulatory and legal frameworks including their institutional capacities. These efforts are aimed at attracting private sector investment and expertise to help develop low-carbon and climate resilient infrastructure solutions through climate-smart infrastructure PPP projects across energy, transport and water sectors. The regional focus of his work is Sub-Saharan Africa, South and East Asia including some Latin American and Caribbean countries.
Within the World Bank Group, Nuwan has worked at both IFC and World Bank across operations, advisory services and technical assistance. A graduate of Johns Hopkins University, he holds a MBA in Finance. Nuwan is also a Certified Climate & Renewable Energy Finance Expert through the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management in collaboration with the UNEP Center for Climate & Sustainable Energy Finance.
