Oleg Petrov has been with the World Bank since 1996 driving knowledge sharing, digital transformation and data-driven economy development working with over 40 countries. Recently, he has focused on global initiatives related to digital academies, smart cities, AI, cybersecurity, digital resilience, data strategies and policies, and mainstreaming disruptive technologies.
Earlier, he coordinated digital development advisory engagements in Eurasian countries, preparation of digital investment projects in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Moldova; and global knowledge sharing activities of the Bank's Digital Transformation team, including the High-level Experts, Leaders, and Practitioners (HELP) for Transformation, Smart Nations, Digital Economy, Digital Government, G-Cloud and Open Data initiatives.
He initiated the Global Development Gateway, Smart Africa Alliance, and many digital assessment toolkits. Oleg holds a Master’s Degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy (Tufts University) and Diplomas from the Plekhanov Russian Economics University and Moscow International University.
