Oliver Knight is a Senior Energy Specialist at ESMAP, the Energy Sector Management Assistance Program in the World Bank. Established in 1983, ESMAP is a global, multi-donor technical assistance trust fund that seeks to increase energy sector know-how and institutional capacity in developing countries. His work involves leading two new work programs on results-based approaches and renewable energy resource mapping, as well as support for low carbon development planning and the dissemination of ESMAP's modeling tools. Oliver holds a BA (Hons) in Economics and Social Policy from the University of Manchester and a MSc in Environmental Technology (specializing in Energy Policy) from Imperial College London. Prior to joining ESMAP Oliver covered energy and low carbon development issues at the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID), and before this worked at the Sustainable Development Commission providing input to the UK Government on domestic energy and transport policy.
