Oliver Orton

Regional Manager of Corporate Governance for Latin America and the Caribbean of IFC

Oliver Orton is the Regional Manager of Corporate Governance for Latin America and the Caribbean of International Finance Corporation (IFC), member of the World Bank Group. He has been based in Bogotá, Colombia since 2015. He has worked with IFC since 2010, initially in charge of IFC's corporate governance program for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, based in Belgrade, Serbia, before moving to his current position.

Oliver is an English qualified lawyer (non-practicing). He started his international career in Kosovo, co-heading the Legal Department of the European Union project for Kosovo’s Economic Development, before moving to Manila, the Philippines where he worked as legal counsel with Asian Development Bank (ADB), advising ADB and companies throughout Asia on private sector financing, investment and technical assistance. Prior to this, he worked as a lawyer in international law firms in London and Paris, and with CDC Capital Partners in London, an emerging markets’ investment firm, where he covered Africa and Latin America. 

His experience covers financing and investment, private sector development, corporate governance, privatization, restructuring, and international organizations. He speaks French and Spanish.
Oliver graduated in law from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom.
