Omar V. Al Sherif is an Energy Specialist at the World Bank in the Western and Central Africa Unit (IAWE4). He works on the energy portfolio in Liberia and leads the Advisory Services and Analytics (ASA) program. He manages the ongoing investment financing on energy access and utility performance enhancement. He facilitates strategic dialogues with the client on sector reforms, renewable energy development, capacity development, and institutional strengthening. Before joining the World Bank in 2023, he was an individual consultant for renewable energy program development and implementation, especially small hydropower and solar photovoltaic projects. He holds a master’s degree in development Practice from Regis University in the USA and a master’s degree in Renewable Energy Technologies and Management from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi in India.
