Environmental Engineer

Özgül Calicioglu is an Environmental Engineer at the West and Central Africa Region at the World Bank. Özgül supervises analytical studies, technical assistance and investment projects on blue economy, coastal resilience, circular economy, and pollution management. She joined the Environment, Natural Resources and Blue Economy Global Practice operations in East Asia and Pacific Region as a Young Professional in 2019. Previously, Özgül worked at FAO, on linking sustainable bioeconomy indicators, applying academic expertise in the life cycle and techno-economic analyses of waste-to-energy systems and climate-smart agriculture. An Environmental Engineer by training, she holds a PhD from the Pennsylvania State University, MS and BS from the Middle East Technical University, and a BA in Management from the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia.
