Mis currently serves on the Board for the United Nations Voluntary Fund for Indigenous Peoples. He is the Executive Director for the Julian Cho Society, a non-profit indigenous organization, and along with its community partners the Maya Leaders Alliance and Toledo Alcaldes Association, composed of traditional leaders from the 40 Maya villages in southern Belize, led strategic litigation that affirmed the Maya People customary land rights to their ancestral lands. Mis holds an Associate’s degree in Natural Resources Management from the University of Belize, a Bachelor’s degree in Geography from the University of Hawaii, USA, and he has completed graduate work in Human and Social Development with specialization in Indigenous Governance at the University of Victoria, Canada.
