Pamornrat Tansanguanwong is a Senior Social Development Specialist at the World Bank Group based in Bangkok. She joined the World Bank in 1998 initially to help manage the World Bank-supported Social Investment Fund during the financial crisis in Thailand, focusing on delivery of services and small grants to affected groups and communities throughout the country. Since then she has worked in social development programs to support communities affected by the 2004 tsunami (2005-07), by the 2011 floods (2011-13), and by conflict and violence in Thailand’s Deep South (2007-17). Currently she is managing a project on socio-economic reintegration of ex-combatants and ex-detainees in the conflict-affected areas of Thailand’s southern provinces. Her work has also covered social accountability, social safeguards and standards, inclusion of vulnerable groups, and gender issues in Thailand as well as in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Mongolia.
Prior to joining the World Bank, she worked at the Policy and Planning Division of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1985-91). During 1991-98 she worked at The Asia Foundation as a Senior Program Manager for the Political Accountability and Women in Politics programs for Thailand and Vietnam. Pamornrat has a Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Bachelor’s Degree (Honors) from Chulalongkorn University.
