Dr. Paolo Belli is the Practice Manager for Social Protection and Jobs for Eastern and Southern Africa at the World Bank. In his career at the World Bank Paolo led several projects and analytical tasks in the South Asia, Europe and Central Asia, and Africa Regions, mainly in the human development sectors.
Paolo holds a PhD in Economics and Social Policy from the London School of Economics. Before joining the World Bank in 2003, Paolo worked in Academia, in the UK, India, Italy and USA, and his research was mainly in the areas of improving public sector management, decentralization, social protection, health and education financing and welfare reforms.
