Energy Economics Adviser to the World Bank

Dr. Peter Meier is energy economics adviser to the World Bank with power and energy sector experience in over 35 countries.  He has advised many Governments, power companies and international financial institutions on energy and tariff policy, investment appraisal and strategic planning for energy and electricity development.  He is the author of World Bank Guidelines on economic analysis of power sector investment projects; on the economic and financial analysis cross-country power transmission projects; and on the economics of Battery Energy Storage Systems. Previously he was chief economist at the New Zealand-based IPP Asia Power Company,  Professor at the Harriman Business School of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and head of Regional Studies and Energy Economics at Brookhaven National Laboratory in the USA.  Professor Meier is the author of several books on energy and electricity policy, and of numerous World Bank publications. He was educated at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich.
