Peter Sands

Senior Fellow at the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government at Harvard Kennedy School

Peter Sands is a Senior Fellow at the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government at Harvard Kennedy School, where he works on research projects in global health and financial regulation. He is Chair of the World Bank’s International Working Group on Financing Pandemic Preparedness and a Member of the National Academy of Medicine’s project on Ensuring Affordable Access to Drugs.
 
Peter was Chair of the National Academy of Medicine’s Commission on a Global Health Risk Framework For The Future, which produced “The Neglected Dimension of Global Security- A Framework for Countering Infectious Disease Threats”. He is also the Lead Non-Executive Director of the UK’s Department of Health in the UK.
 
Peter was Group Chief Executive of Standard Chartered PLC from November 2006 to June 2015, having joined the Board as Group Finance Director in May 2002. Prior to this, Peter was  a Director at McKinsey & Co.
 
Peter graduated from Brasenose College, Oxford University with a First Class degree in Politics, Phisophy and Economics. He also received a Master in Public Administration from Harvard University, where he was a Harkness Fellow.
