Peter Wrede is a consultant with the World Bank Group who works on disaster risk financing, insurance market development, capacity-building, and shock-responsive social safety nets for this and other clients.
Peter was Senior Financial Sector Specialist at the World Bank between 2012 and 2019, dedicated to inclusive insurance, agriculture insurance, supervisory capacity building and supportive regulatory regimes. Prior to that, he worked at the International Labor Organization and the Aga Khan Agency for Microfinance, making insurance work for low income households. That service benefited from his actuarial experience in commercial insurance and reinsurance between 1990 and 2007, which covered a range of areas including product design, pricing, reserving, marketing, risk management, underwriting policy, and Islamic insurance.
