Philipp Kollenda is a sustainable finance and development advisor in the World Bank's Finance, Competitiveness and Innovation Global Practice. He joined the World Bank in 2022 to help build a solid foundation for sustainable (sovereign) finance by combining traditional and innovative data with rigorous analytical methodologies. Philipp supports the work through economic modeling and econometric analysis (especially causal inference and time series) and by visualizing and communicating actionable insights to policy makers. Philipp is completing his PhD in development economics at the Tinbergen Institute/VU Amsterdam, where he conducted and published research on sustainable finance and agricultural markets in low-income countries. He holds an MA in Economics from the Tinbergen Institute, a BA in Economics from the University of Mannheim and has studied or conducted fieldwork in Canada, Kenya, Nicaragua, Thailand and Uganda.
