Pietro Calice is a Senior Financial Sector Specialist with the Finance, Competitiveness and Investment Department of the World Bank Group, based in the East Asia and Pacific region. He advises finance ministries, central banks, regulatory authorities, and public financial institutions on financial sector reforms, with a focus on financial stability, financial inclusion, development finance, credit guarantees, and risk-sharing instruments. Pietro has over twenty-five years of experience across more than twenty-five countries in five regions. He has led and contributed to several Financial Sector Assessment Programs and has designed and implemented major World Bank operations in financial sector reform, SME finance, public development banks, crisis preparedness, and climate finance. He is a recognized expert in credit guarantee schemes, state-owned financial institutions, financial sector competition policy, and climate finance. Before joining the World Bank Group, Pietro worked at the African Development Bank, credit rating agencies, and investment banks. He holds a PhD in Economics and an MPhil in Development Studies.
