Senior Country Economist

Pinar Yasar is a Senior Country Economist at the Macroeconomics, Trade, and Investment Global Practice covering Uzbekistan in the Europe and Central Asia region. Prior to this, she was the Bank’s senior country economist in Türkiye. Prior to joining the World Bank in 2016, she worked at the Economic Modeling Department of the Presidency of Strategy and Budget Office in Türkiye as a Planning Expert. During that time, she was actively involved in the preparation of short- and long-term policy documents, such as the Medium Term Programs, Economic Reform Programs, National Development Plans. She co-authored a number of academic papers and World Bank reports on a range of topics including macroeconomics and growth, productivity, trade and fiscal. Pinar holds a Master of Arts in Economics from Duke University, a Master of Science in Economics from Middle East Technical University and a Ph.D. in Economics from Hacettepe University.
