Prateek Samal leads the development of the voluntary domestic debt reporting template, a key initiative advancing the global debt transparency agenda. This work will be integrated into the World Bank’s upcoming new Debtor Reporting System (DRS) requirements, set to launch in 2026. Based in the Development Data Group’s Debt Statistics team, Prateek also works with ministries of finance and central banks around the world to compile and analyze data for the International Debt Report, International Debt Statistics, Quarterly External Debt Statistics, and Quarterly Public Sector Debt publications. An economist by training, he previously worked at the International Monetary Fund and holds a master’s degree from Brown University.
