Prisca Atieno is an agricultural economist and Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension and Rural Development at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. She is a certified food security analyst by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and has several years of banking experience. She is currently a research assistant at the University of Pretoria and a tutor for the Collaborative Master of Science in Agricultural and Applied Economics (CMAAE), a joint program between the University of Pretoria and five other African universities to build the capacity to conduct policy research in agricultural and applied economics to address food security, agricultural productivity and environmental management.
