Rachel Firestone works in the Transport and ICT Global Practice on ICT policy and digital entrepreneurship. She joined the World Bank in 2015, and has been involved in the design and management of operations in Somalia and the Horn of Africa. She specializes in FCV-specific ICT work and has conducted an e-Government and service delivery assessment in Kenya, designed a digital entrepreneurship hackathon in Mali, and researched the economic impact of tech hubs and incubators in African countries. Prior to the Bank, Rachel spent five years in India working on social inclusion and self-advocacy initiatives with displaced communities, using ICTs and microfinance as tools for community engagement and empowerment. She completed her Masters at Georgetown University, with a concentration in Global Politics and Security and an Honors Certificate in International Business.
