Rachel Ort is a Public Sector Specialist with the Africa region and is Co-Chair the World Bank’s Political Economy Community of Practice. She has worked throughout the Africa region including on Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Nigeria and South Sudan. Rachel has expertise in the areas of public employment management, public administration reform, GovTech, intergovernmental relations, political economy, and adaptive management. Before joining the World Bank, she spent a year in Botswana on a U.S. Fulbright grant researching the relationship between civil society and democratization. She has worked with the AFL-CIO Solidarity Center in Johannesburg, South Africa and as a community organizer in the U.S. Rachel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Kenyon College and a Master’s degree in International Development and Economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
