Raimundo Soto is Associate Professor of Economics, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He received his Ph.D. in economics from Georgetown University. Professor Soto specializes in macroeconomic theory and econometrics and has published extensively in international journals covering long-run growth, exchange rate misalignment, and fiscal and monetary policies, as well as resource curse, institutions, and corruption. He has been visiting scholar in institutions in the US, Europe, Asia, and Latin America and international organizations such as the World Bank, IMF, Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, Economic Research Forum, and United Nations. Professor Soto served as president of the Chilean Economic Association. He was Director of International Development at the Dubai Economic Council between 2010 and 2012. His current research focuses on policy and political reforms in civil-conflict affected economies, in particular the Middle East. Professor Soto is currently the Managing Editor of the Middle East Development Journal.
