Lead Infrastructure Finance Specialist

Richard MacGeorge is a Lead Infrastructure Finance Specialist in the Financial Solutions unit of the World Bank Group. The Financial Solutions unit works to help member countries mobilize private financing for development purposes. Much of this activity relates to risk management and, for residual risks left over from this process, the deployment of risk mitigation instruments. The World Bank Group has a range of financial instruments available for this purpose and these include insurance and guarantees. Prior to joining the World Bank, Richard was a project finance specialist at Deutsche Morgan Grenfell, HSBC Investment Bank and Macquarie Bank in London, Asia and Australia; a director of New Zealand’s largest privately financed irrigation project; the financial member of a dispute resolution board for the Sofiyska Voda water and wastewater concession in Bulgaria; and head of the infrastructure team for the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority in New Zealand.
