Senior Health Specialist

Rifat Hasan is currently a Senior Health Specialist at the World Bank Group’s Health, Nutrition and Population Global Practice.  She has over 15 years of experience with analytical and operational work in countries across South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.  Rifat has expertise in health sector policy development and implementation; quality of care; demographics; results-based financing; reproductive, maternal, child and adolescent health; and non-communicable diseases.  She currently leads health sector reform projects in the Maldives and the states of Tamil Nadu and Uttarakhand in India.  Rifat’s recent analytical work includes a multisectoral assessment of challenges and opportunities for human capital accumulation in India through investments in adolescent girls and an impact evaluation of a health and nutrition project in The Gambia.  She earned a master’s degree in Health and Social Behavior and a doctoral degree in Global Health and Population, both from Harvard University.
