Public Financial Management (PFM) & Governance Specialist

Rizwana Tabassum is a Public Financial Management (PFM) and governance specialist with a background as a professional accountant, bringing extensive experience in fiscal policy, institutional reform, and public sector management in Bangladesh. As a Governance Specialist with the World Bank, she supports the Government of Bangladesh in implementing its PFM Reform Strategy across key areas, including macro-fiscal management, debt management, budget preparation, IFMIS (iBAS++), SOE governance, pension management, internal audit, and change management.

She works closely with government counterparts and development partners, including the Asian Development Bank (ADB), to advance PFM reforms through World Bank-supported programs and a multi-donor trust fund supported by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), the European Union, and the Government of Canada. Her work focuses on fiscal risk management, SOE oversight, and strengthening fiscal transparency and institutional performance. She has also contributed to major reform initiatives, including support to the OCAG program and PEFA assessments.
