Senior Urban Specialist at the World Bank

Rodrigo Donoso is a Senior Urban Specialist at the World Bank, based in Lima, Peru. He serves as the focal point for the Andean countries (LC6) within the Urban, Resilience and Land Global Practice. Rodrigo has over 17 years of experience in international development, working with local governments, private consulting firms, and multilateral organizations across 11 countries.

His current work focuses on managing a portfolio of lending operations and analytical services in Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, and Chile, related to urban resilience, housing, urban regeneration, local development, climate change adaptation, emergency preparedness and response, and financial instruments for crisis response. He works closely with national and municipal counterparts to design and implement urban development strategies that promote inclusive and resilient growth.

Prior to joining the World Bank in 2017, Rodrigo led and participated in various projects related to housing, urban upgrading, disaster risk management, climate change adaptation, and land use planning. He has worked with several high-profile institutions, including the Ministry of Housing and the Ministry of Education in Chile, as well as local governments in Mexico and Chile, along with private sector actors such as construction firms and real estate developers.

Rodrigo holds a degree in Construction Engineering from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and a Master of Science in Project Management from Northwestern University in the United States.
