Senior Health Specialist

Dr. Rogers Ayiko is a Senior Health Specialist with the World Bank in Uganda, where he leads the design and implementation of operations and analytical work. He has 18 years of experience in conceptualizing, executing, and evaluating health policy and system interventions, and policy focusing on maternal and child health and nutrition, pandemic preparedness and response, and non-communicable diseases. His areas of expertise span health services development; monitoring, evaluation and knowledge management; and health economics and health financing.

Prior to joining the World Bank, Rogers was the Principal Health Systems and Policy Analysis Officer and Head, Reproductive Maternal Newborn Child and Adolescent Health and Nutrition at the East African Community Secretariat from 2014-2019. Earlier, he worked as a Senior Progamme Officer for Family and Reproductive Health at the East Central and Southern Africa Health Community; National Monitoring and Evaluation Officer and Technical Advisor for District Health Services at Doctors with Africa CUAMM; and Medical Officer in a rural hospital.

Rogers trained as a medical doctor and pursued postgraduate trainings in international health, business administration, and health and pharmaco-economics from Mbarara University of Science and Technology; University College London/Karolinska Institute/Universitats Medizin Zu Berlin; Uganda Management Institute; and Pompeau Fabra University respectively.
