Rolando Durán Vargas is a Senior Disaster Risk Management Specialist in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Africa for the World Bank. He has more than 40 years of professional experience in more than 30 countries in Disaster Risk Management, Climate Change Adaptation and Water Resources integrated management. He worked for the National Emergency Commission in Costa Rica and served as Executive Secretariat of CEPREDENAC and Community Risk Management Regional Management for South America with IFRC. As a consultant Rolando has worked with several UN Agencies, IADB, the European Commission, among others.
