Rumela, born and brought up in the erstwhile French Colony of Chandannagar, India is currently a student at the Presidency University in Kolkata. She is pursuing a major in Economics. Macroeconomics is her area of interest and she wants to specialize in Growth and Development Economics in the future. She takes an avid interest in critical analysis of Economic Issues.
Rumela was selected as part of the India delegation for the 10th South Asia Economics Student Meet (SAESM), held in Lahore in December 2013. Her paper, A Bird's Eye View into Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, was selected as the winner in the Political Economy of Social Security category at the conference.
