Rusmir joined IFC in 2011, where he initially worked as Strategy Officer for the Climate Business Department. He was part of a team that synthesized IFC’s Climate Implementation Plan, which catalyzed 4x growth in IFC’s green investments over his five years there. More recently, he was the Global Business Development Lead for the EDGE Green Buildings Market Transformation Program, which has enabled $6.4 billion in IFC investments and 17 million m2 of certified real estate.
Rusmir hails from Bosnia and Herzegovina, which he left at age 17—as a war refugee—for the United States. He received his BA in Chemistry from the College of the Holy Cross and his MA in Humanities and Social Thought from New York University. After working in the education sector, he received an MBA from Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business, where he was Salutatorian of his class.
Rusmir has written and presented on a variety of topics; has been published in books, journals, and on the Web; and was profiled by Business Week as one of its featured MBA student bloggers.
