Ruth Llovet Montañés is an economist in the World Bank’s Poverty and Equity Department, working in the Latin America and Caribbean region. She currently leads the World Bank’s poverty and equity program in Bolivia and has previously contributed to analytical work and policy advice in Dominica, Mexico, and Uruguay.
Ruth also has experience in the East Asia and Pacific region, where she supported Pacific Island Countries in assessing the impacts of shocks on well-being and the incidence of fiscal policy. Her research interests include inclusive growth, the distributional impacts of public policy, the intersection of climate change and poverty, and labor market dynamics.
She joined the World Bank’s Young Professionals Program in 2020, after working as a research analyst in the Development Economics (DEC) department, where she conducted empirical research on international capital flows, firms’ access to capital markets, and Fintech.
She holds an M.Sc. in Specialized Economic Analysis and a B.A. in Economics from Pompeu Fabra University.
