Sachi Suzuki is a Junior Professional Officer of the South Asia Region's Climate Change & Disaster Risk Management unit. She supports operations and analytics to advance disaster risk management and climate agenda in Bangladesh and other South Asian countries. She works to improve urban resilience and hydro-meteorological and climate information services.
Before joining the World Bank, Sachi was working as a Japanese Funds-in-Trust Coordinator at UNESCO Regional Science Bureau in Jakarta, Indonesia. She was responsible for coordinating the cooperation of regional science stakeholders to promote science, engineering, technology, and innovation across the Asia Pacific region. She was also in charge of ensuring donor-relationship and trust fund coordination and monitoring.
Sachi’s area of expertise is post-disaster reconstruction, and she earned her PhD in engineering at Tohoku University, Japan.
