Sailesh Tiwari is a Lead Economist in the Poverty and Equity Global Practice at the World Bank, supporting governments across the East Asia and Pacific (EAP) region in designing and implementing policies that drive inclusive growth and shared prosperity. Before joining the EAP team, he led World Bank engagements on poverty reduction and economic mobility across South Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, and Europe and Central Asia, with thematic focus spanning distributional analysis of fiscal policy, inequality of opportunities, urbanization and spatial development, social protection, the digital economy, and food and nutrition security. Sailesh holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Brown University, M.Sc. in Finance and Economics from the London School of Economics and a BA in Economics from Connecticut College.
