Salman Asim is a Senior Economist in the Education Global Practice at the World Bank, where he works at the intersection of artificial intelligence, digital public infrastructure, and system-level education reform. He advises governments on how to integrate AI and digital technologies into national education systems to strengthen teaching, improve learning outcomes, and build skills for economies shaped by automation and the green transition. He has led large-scale World Bank operations and analytical programs across East Asia, Africa, and South Asia, including education reforms in China, Malawi, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Pakistan, and AI and digital education work in Korea and Mongolia. His current work focuses on scalable models and global public goods for responsible AI-enabled education systems, combining evidence generation, data governance, and sustainable financing pathways. Salman completed graduate studies in economics at the University of Oxford, where he was a Rhodes Scholar.
