Samantha Zaldivar Chimal is a Social Protection Specialist at the World Bank Social Protection (SP) and Jobs Global Practice. Her areas of work mainly focus on SP systems and digitizing government-to-person payments, social protection in fragile countries and affected by conflict, and women’s empowerment.
Before joining the Bank, Samantha worked at the Innovation for Policy Action in Sierra Leone, at the Municipal Institute for Research and Planning, and the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education in Mexico, where she conducted research on various topics related to economic development. She also worked as an Officer for the Trade and Commerce Unit at the European Commission in Mexico. She holds a Master’s degree in Mathematics applied to Economics from the University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and the Autonomous University of Barcelona; and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education in Mexico.
