Samer Matta is an Economist covering Mauritania in the Macroeconomics, Trade & Investment (MTI) Global Practice at the World Bank. Previously, he was a Young Professional in MTI West Africa, where he worked on several analytical studies and operational projects in Benin, Chad, and Senegal. He also worked as a research fellow at the Ideation Center in Beirut, focusing on countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council. He holds a PhD from the University of Nottingham, an MSc in Financial Economics from the University of Manchester, and a BA in economics from the American University of Beirut.
