Samia Al-Duaij joined the World Bank’s Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Environment Unit in July 2006. As a member of the MENA Environment team, she works on operational and analytical projects in a range of MENA countries (including Egypt, Yemen, Djibouti, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq and the GCC) focusing on Marine Issues, Fisheries, Conservation, Environmental safeguards, Environment Impact Assessments and Environmental Economics. Samia is involved in many marine conservation initiatives in the MENA region and has previously worked in fisheries in a research institute and an aquarium in her native Kuwait. She is also a keen diver. She holds a Masters degree in Environment, Politics and Globalization from King's College, London and a BSc. in Molecular Biology from the University of Manchester.
