Samira Hillis is a Senior Operations Officer at the Human Development Group in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region at the World Bank. Ms. Hillis also serves as the Program Coordinator for the World Bank Office in the Palestinian territories. In her role, she coordinates the World Bank's activities and leads the dialogue for the Education, Health, Nutrition and Population, Social Protection and Labor Global Practices. She has more than 15 years of experience in Bank operations including rapid response to crises and emergencies. In addition to coordinating the World Bank's human development work, she's currently the task team leader for several projects and technical assistance activities in the health sector, social safety nets and cash transfer programs. She also acts as the World Bank's coordinator and main focal point on Gender and is also in charge of overseeing the World Bank's office in Gaza. In addition to her work in the Palestinian territories, she has a multi country experience in the MENA region including Yemen, Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt.
