Sana Zia is a Senior Social Development Specialist for the Social Sustainability and Inclusion (SSI) Global Practice based in Tajikistan. Her work is geared towards ensuring inclusion, resilience and cohesion in World Bank supported policies, programs and analytics. Her main areas of interest and expertise within social inclusion focus on women's social and economic empowerment, gender-based violence (GBV) prevention and mitigation, development response to fragility, conflict and violence (FCV) including refugees, social dimensions of climate change, inclusive community development and local governance.
Before joining the World Bank in October 2022, Sana worked on various operations, programs and analytics covering FCV, governance, and economic development with UN, FCDO and international NGOs. Sana holds a Masters in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University and a BSc Honors in Economics from Lahore University of Management Sciences.
