Sandeep Bhupatiraju is a researcher at the Data and Evidence for Justice Reforms (DE JURE) program at the World Bank’s Development Impact Evaluation (DIME) unit. He has compiled databases of judicial data which help in the study of downstream economic impacts of law, as well as bias within the judiciary. He is interested in understanding legal institutions and their impact on people through the text corpora they generate. His current work uses tools from machine learning to identify systematic bias within these institutions and understand the processes which produce and propagate these biases. Sandeep holds a PhD in Mathematics from Indiana University, Bloomington.
