Sangeeta Dey is a Senior Education Specialist based in the World Bank’s New Delhi, India office since the last 8 years. Her current work includes leading an early childhood development project in Sri Lanka, co-leading a state level higher education project in India, leading analytical work on adolescent girls’ education under a cross human development initiative with health and social protection in India, and co leading analytical work on tertiary education in India. She has led a national project on secondary school education in India, and analytical work on early childhood education, secondary education teacher management and professional development, time on task in secondary classrooms, and education governance. She has work experience in Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka in the South Asia region, and in Indonesia in the East Asia Pacific region. Prior to the World Bank she worked in the education sector for 18 years, as Education Advisor at UK’s Department for International Development, Education Grants Officer at the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, Education Specialist in the United States Agency for International Development’s REACH India project and taught at the undergraduate level in the University of Delhi. She obtained her M.Phil degree from the University of Delhi in Indian History.
