​Sania Nishtar, SI, FRCP, Ph.D

Sania Nishtar, SI, FRCP, Ph.D. established the NGO think-tank Heartfile a powerful health policy voice and catalyst for health reform on Pakistan.  She is the founder of many other health institutions, and in 2013 she served as a Federal Minister in Pakistan’s Interim Government, where she held four portfolios and was instrumental in establishing Pakistan’s Ministry of Health. 
 
Dr. Nishtar is a member of many Expert Working Groups and Task Forces of the World Health Organization. She currently co-chairs WHO’s Commission on Ending Childhood Obesity, is a member of the Global Agenda Council of the World Economic Forum and has served as a board member for many international organizations. Dr. Nishtar is a key health policy voice in Pakistan and has authored six books and more than 100 peer-reviewed articles.  In 2011, she received the prestigious Global Innovation Award, and holds a fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and a Ph.D. from Kings College London.
