Santiago Pombo has been an International Publishing consultant with the World Bank, IDB, LACEA, Fedesarollo (Colombia) among other institutions. He was former Editor–in-Chief at the Office of the Publisher of the World Bank (2002-2013). He holds a BA in Industrial Engineering from the Universidad de los Andes in Bogota and a M. A. in Economics from the New School for Social Research in New York. He has extensive experience (1974-2002) in the publishing industry in Latin America as Managing Director, Publisher and CEO of several publishing houses, particularly in academic and scholarly fields: Salvat Editores, Siglo XXI Editores, Tercer Mundo Editores and Alfaomega Grupo Editor. He has been Vice-President of the Board of Directors of the Colombian Publishers Association and co-founder of the Bogota International Book Fair.
