Sarah Bolongaita

Consultant, World Bank’s Health, Nutrition and Population Global Practice

Sarah Bolongaita is a consultant with the World Bank’s Health, Nutrition and Population Global Practice, where she provides analytical leadership and policy guidance on noncommunicable diseases, population aging, and health financing across the Europe and Central Asia region. She serves as a health economics technical lead for the Moldova Rehabilitation Services Project, advising the Ministry of Health and the National Health Insurance Fund on health financing and service delivery reforms, including the institutionalization of health technology assessment. Her work spans the design and evaluation of health system policy, with a focus on aligning technical analyses with strategic priorities and implementation capacity.

Sarah was a Commissioner on The Lancet’s Commission on Investing in Health (“Global Health 2050”), contributing to its analysis of global health trends and strategic investments amid shifting political priorities and economic headwinds. She is completing a PhD in global health economics at the University of Bergen, where her research focuses on modeling health equity and financial risk protection. Sarah previously held roles at Harvard University and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She holds a Bachelor of Science from Georgetown University and a Master of Science from Harvard University.
