Sarah Hearn

Associate Director and Senior Fellow, Center for International Cooperation, New York University

Sarah Hearn is Associate Director and Senior Fellow at CIC. She oversees CIC's Global Development program. The program is focused on major international peace and development priorities, which currently include countries such as Somalia, and international policies, such as negotiating the next global sustainable development framework at the UN in 2015. The program works with conflict-affected countries, the emerging powers and traditional aid donors.

Prior to joining CIC in 2013, Sarah worked with the UK's Department for International Development (DFID) and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in London, New York, Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. She has been closely involved in shaping international policy on conflict with the G8, NATO and the UN. Sarah's particular interests have included development, governance, peacemaking, peacekeeping and peacebuilding, counter-insurgency and counter-organized crime in South and West Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. She has published on anti-corruption systems and international coordination

Sarah holds an M.Phil (2002) from the University of Oxford and a B.A. Hons (1999) from University College London. In 2012, she was awarded the OBE for services to international development.
