Sarah is a final year PhD Candidate at the University of Sydney and based in London. Her research is in health policy, and specifically, health and economic impacts of fiscal policies for reducing non-communicable disease (NCD) burden in Lower Middle-Income Countries. Her current research focuses on the Pacific islands of Fiji, Samoa, and Tonga. Her research uses (a) theories of public health policy-making and political economy analysis to explore facilitators and barriers to best practice public health nutrition policy, and (b) simulation modeling to estimate fiscal policy impacts on NCD risk factors and disease outcomes. Over the last four years, Sarah has been involved in research consultancies, most recently with the World Bank, the World Health Organization, and Food and Agricultural Organization. Prior to undertaking her Ph.D., Sarah worked for 20 years as a biochemist in NHS (UK). She has done a Masters in International Public Health Nutrition (London) and a Masters in Clinical Biochemistry (London).
