Satu Kahkonen is the World Bank Country Director for Indonesia and Timor-Leste. She oversees programs in the two countries and leads policy dialogue with government counterparts, civil society and other partners. Before joining the team in Indonesia, Ms. Kahkonen was the Country Director for Belarus, Moldova, and Ukraine. Prior to this, as the Director of the Macroeconomics and Fiscal Management Global Practice at the World Bank Group, she oversaw the work of the Practice in Europe and Central Asia, South Asia, and East Asia and Pacific and led 350 staff with expertise in macroeconomics.
Ms. Kahkonen holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, where she studied as a Fulbright Scholar and an M.Sc. from the Helsinki School of Economics.
