After joining the World Bank in 2008 as a Junior Professional Officer in the Turkey Country Management Unit, Sébastian Trenner (a French and German national) worked in the Financial and Private Sector Development Sector in the Europe and Central Asia Region. In January 2011, he moved to the Human Development Group in the Middle East and North Africa Region. His current work assignment focuses on two main themes: (1) Employment and entrepreneurship, (2) Diaspora and public policies.
Prior to joining the World Bank, Sébastian focused mostly on project management, microfinance and donor coordination. He gained exposure to the private and the public sectors; non-profit, bilateral and multilateral organizations. He holds Master degrees from the Catholic University of Louvain (International Relations and Comparative Politics), the College of Europe (European Political and Administrative Studies) and the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management (Microfinance).
