Sevara Melibaeva is a Senior Transport Economist currently based in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, working on the World Bank’s transport sector program and policy dialogue in Central Asian countries. She joined the World Bank as a Young Professional in 2010 and worked on lending operations in trade and transport facilitation, rural connectivity, and railways in the countries of Eastern and Southern Africa, Central America, South Caucasus, and Central Asia. Most recently, she has been leading projects on road corridors in Kazakhstan, regional connectivity in Central Asia, and analytical and advisory activities in transport sector institutional reforms, aviation, toll roads, and public-private partnerships in Uzbekistan. She also has worked extensively on gender-related issues in transport sector and road safety in Nicaragua and Malawi. Sevara holds a Master of Science in Transportation degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Master of Public Policy & Administration from Columbia University, MBA from Tashkent State University of Economics, and Bachelor of Science in Economics and Mathematics from Greensboro College, North Carolina.
